A 24-year-old homemaker from Kolar Gold Fields (KGF) has been arrested for allegedly kidnapping and raping a 17-year-old boy. The woman has been booked under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act. Both of them are residents of KGF, about 95km from here, and knew each other for a long time as they lived in the same locality. Police said they subjected the boy and the woman to medical tests, which have confirmed “sexual contact” between the duo.
The woman’s husband is in the business of supplying drinking water. The couple, who have been married for two years, have no children, while the boy is a school dropout, police said.
According to investigating officers both went missing on October 24. “The woman’s husband approached the Robertsonpet police station on October 24 night, saying his wife had gone missing. The next morning, the boy’s father too arrived at the station with a complaint that his son was missing,” police said.
Incidentally, the missing homemaker’s photographs were placed on the table of the station officer as police were making copies of them in order to be sent to other police stations across the state. “On seeing the picture of the homemaker, the boy’s father asked us what had happened. We told him that she is missing. He immediately suspected that the woman may have taken away his son as they both knew each other,” police said.
Initially, police were not ready to buy the claim of the boy’s father. “The homemaker’s neighbours told us that there was an affair between them. Finally, we scanned CCTV footages near KGF bus stand and found that the duo had boarded an Andhra Pradesh-bound bus on October 24 evening,” police said.
The homemaker’s husband also suspected that his wife and the boy may have gone together and told police that his wife had taken Rs 1.5 lakh with her.
The duo was ahead of the investigation team pursuing them at every place by a few hours or a day. Finally, the police caught up with the duo at a hotel in Velankanni, Tamil Nadu on November 13.
